The Swiss Travel Pass can simplify a trip with several train, bus and boat journeys. Its value depends on your actual itinerary: a pass is not automatically cheaper after a fixed number of journeys, and mountain excursions and seat reservations need separate checks.

Swiss Travel Pass prices for 2026

The following are SBB’s published adult prices for travelers aged 25 or over, valid until 31 December 2026 and checked on 11 October 2026. They are reference prices, not a quote for a particular retailer.

Consecutive daysSecond classFirst class
3CHF 254CHF 405
4CHF 309CHF 492
6CHF 399CHF 634
8CHF 439CHF 697
15CHF 499CHF 787

Youth products have separate prices. Do not use an adult price table to calculate a child or youth booking.

Consecutive pass or Swiss Travel Pass Flex?

A consecutive pass runs on successive days. Flex offers 3, 4, 6, 8 or 15 selected travel days within one month. Choose Flex only after marking the days when you need its transport and attraction benefits. Follow the activation instructions supplied with that product before traveling on a selected day.

For example, a trip with several long journeys separated by quiet days in one village may suit Flex. A trip using covered transport daily may suit a consecutive pass. Price both against your complete itinerary.

What is included, and what is extra?

The official coverage includes participating trains, buses and boats, local transport in more than 90 towns and cities, and over 500 museums. Eligible travel to Rigi, Stanserhorn and Stoos is included. Use the official validity map for each route: many other mountain journeys are discounted rather than fully included.

Keep three costs separate: transport fare, compulsory or optional seat reservation, and any mountain or special-service supplement. The Glacier Express and Bernina Express panoramic services require reservations even when the pass covers the transport fare. Verify the class and travel day on both documents.

For Jungfraujoch, Pilatus, Titlis or Gornergrat, check the mountain operator’s current route-specific offer. A pass benefit on the access journey does not make the summit journey free. Check weather and operating status before committing to a mountain excursion.

Eligibility and children

The Swiss Travel Pass is intended for people permanently resident outside Switzerland and Liechtenstein. Children aged 6 to under 16 can use the free Swiss Family Card when traveling with an eligible parent holding a qualifying Swiss Travel System product. Add children when purchasing and verify the issued documents; a child’s free transport entitlement does not automatically include a reserved seat.

Compare the full trip cost

  1. List airport transfers, intercity journeys, local transport, boats and mountain trips for each day.
  2. Obtain current point-to-point prices for the correct class and passenger eligibility.
  3. Compare those with the pass plus excluded journeys, reservations and supplements.
  4. Include only attractions you actually plan to visit. Treat flexibility as a preference rather than an assumed cash saving.

For a trip concentrated in one region, compare the Swiss Half Fare Card and Swiss Travel Pass. For a few fixed journeys, start with the ticket-versus-pass comparison.

Before boarding

Check the first valid date, selected Flex day where applicable, passenger details and class. Keep the issued pass available offline together with required identification. A purchase confirmation alone is not a substitute for the travel document. Use live station displays for platforms and retain any separate reservation for the train you selected.

FAQ

How much is a four-day Swiss Travel Pass in 2026?

SBB lists the adult consecutive four-day pass at CHF 309 in second class and CHF 492 in first class through 31 December 2026. Youth, Flex and retailer offers must be checked separately.

Does it include every mountain railway?

No. Some mountain routes are included, others offer a discount or require separate tickets. Check the official validity map and mountain operator for the exact route.

Does the pass include a Glacier Express seat reservation?

No. A valid pass can cover the fare in the appropriate class, but the required seat reservation is separate.

Is the pass always the cheapest option?

No. Compare your whole itinerary, excluded journeys and reservations with current individual ticket prices.
