Swiss Rail Ticketing, Refund and Rescheduling Rules
Important Swiss train ticket purchase, cancellation, refund, and rescheduling rules for orders placed through Swiss Rail Tickets.
Swiss Rail Ticketing, Refund and Rescheduling Rules
These rules apply to Swiss train tickets booked through Swiss Rail Tickets. Exact conditions depend on the rail operator, fare type, route, inventory, passenger category, and the time at which the request is submitted.
Before You Book
- Please check passenger names, travel date, departure and arrival stations, train time, seat class, and passenger count before payment.
- Some tickets are flexible, while others are discounted or operator-restricted and may not allow refunds, changes, or partial changes.
- Seat availability and prices may change before payment is completed.
- Swiss Rail Tickets is an independent booking service and may charge service fees for booking support, payment handling, customer support, or after-sales processing.
Ticket Issuing
After successful payment, we submit your order to the relevant rail ticketing channel. Most tickets are issued electronically and sent to the email address provided during booking. If a ticket cannot be issued because the selected fare or train becomes unavailable, we will contact you with available alternatives or arrange a refund according to the actual payment status.
Cancellation and Refunds
- Refund eligibility is determined by the operator and fare rules attached to the ticket.
- Some tickets may be non-refundable after purchase, after ticket issue, or after a specified deadline before departure.
- If a refund is permitted, operator penalties, bank/payment fees, currency conversion differences, and Swiss Rail Tickets service fees may be deducted where applicable.
- No refund is normally available after the train has departed, after the ticket has been used, or when the passenger misses the train for personal reasons.
- Refund processing time depends on the railway operator, payment provider, bank, and card issuer. The refund may not appear immediately after approval.
Rescheduling and Changes
- Whether a ticket can be changed depends on the fare rule, operator policy, route, and time remaining before departure.
- Changes may be limited to travel time, date, passenger details, or seat class, and some tickets may not allow any change.
- If the new ticket is more expensive, the passenger must pay the difference before the change can be completed.
- If the new ticket is cheaper, a price difference refund is not guaranteed and depends on operator rules.
- Change requests are not confirmed until the new ticket or confirmation is issued.
How to Submit an After-Sales Request
To request cancellation, refund, or change support, contact us with your order number, passenger name, email address, requested action, and preferred new itinerary if applicable. Requests should be submitted as early as possible. We cannot guarantee changes or refunds close to departure.
Operational Disruptions
If a train is cancelled, delayed, or disrupted by the operator, available remedies depend on the operator's official policy. We will assist with reasonable support, but compensation, rebooking, and refund approval remain subject to operator rules.
Passenger Responsibility
Passengers are responsible for arriving at the station on time, carrying valid travel documents, checking platform and train information, and following railway staff instructions. Missed trains, incorrect station arrivals, invalid documents, and personal schedule changes may not qualify for refund or free rebooking.
